Here is my new office as promised!

Yesterday I moved into my new office. I had a nice office in the middle of the building. I didn't have a window to the outside though and on cloudy or rainy days I kind of felt like I was in a little hole. My boss came along on Monday and told me he wanted me to move to a bigger office on the outside of the building. All day Tuesday I packed up all my desk items, files, drawings and Closeout Binders and moved on down the hall. I am now in a larger office and I have a lovely view of the woods. I love the light and brightness of the new space alot! It just makes you feel good!

This is where I spend almost the whole day just typing away and talking on the phone to owners, subcontractors and officials for our projects.

As you can see I have a lovely view beyond the parking lot. I love to look at the woods while I'm talking on the phone! I also have this lovely drafting table now. I can actually work on my drawings all sprawled out on the table now instead of folding them in half across my desk. This will be great when a subcontractor calls and I have to look at a drawing. It will also be great when I have to mark up drawings, which is usually 6 or 7 copies of the same thing! Gotta love it!

This is the woods and shrubs that I was talking about! Everything is so green right now. Today one of the guys was in my office and he said slowly turn around and look out your window there is a hummingbird right outside the window looking at you! I had a coral color top on today and I guess he liked what he saw!! Actually he was drinking water off the leaves of the boxwood outside my office.

It is so nice and quiet down at this end of the building too. At the other end the 2 girls in accounting are always yelling back and forth to each other. One of my project managers that was across the hall also has a hearing problem and was always yelling into the phone at his workers or subcontractors. I guess he thought they couldn't hear either! I have 2 of my favorite Project Managers on either side of my office now. It makes it easier for me to do their work too, they don't have to walk all the way around the building to get things to me. They said they are going to cut holes in the wall and have a pass through like the butlers used to have, that way they will never have to get out of their chairs-silly guys!!

Well I hope y'all liked the tour! Everyone have a lovely evening! Also thanks for all the congratulations and best wishes on our daughter, Jenny being pregnant! She called me today and said she is so tired, wait until the baby is born and she'll really be tired then! We are all so happy!

I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!!!!

This picture was taken of Jenny and Kevin last August when they got married at our house-they are the new parents to be!!

I came home from work last night and I noticed a pink envelope on the counter that said Mom open now. John was walking Teddy so I thought I better get dinner started because our friend was coming over for dinner and he would be here at 6:30 and it was 6:05. John and Teddy came in and John asked me why I hadn't opened the card from Jenny. I said Mother's Day isn't yet but he told me it says open now. So I stop what I'm doing and open it and a little fuzzy bunny is on the card and it's says "Hi Grandma!" I open it up and Jenny had written that you are going to make a great grandma in 8 months!!! I was so happy for them!! I called them right away and she was crying I was crying!! You bet I'm getting out the knitting needles, buying some yarn and I'm getting out the sewing machine too! John and I are so happy for Jenny and Kevin (and ourselves too!!). She said she has been a little sick this week and almost passed out at work the other day. I told her to be careful and take it easy (she has a tendency to over do). So in the beginning of January I'll be a Grandma!! Can you tell I'm happy-LOL!!!

Everyone have a wonderful day!

I moved into my new office today!

I am all settled in my new office at work! WOOHOO! I have a huge window that looks out at the woods. There is so much light and so much more space. I'll have to bring my camera in tomorrow and take some pics to show y'all! Today has been a good day. I spent almost the whole day moving everything from my office up to this one. I had to move the files, drawings, binders, etc. from the last office occupant to my old office because that project is still being worked on. I am the first woman in the office to have an outside office-I feel very special!! Now we'll work on being a Project Manager!! If that never happens I will be just as happy, but it would be nice! Everyone have a great evening!

Sweet Vickie gave me this award....

Sweet Vickie (http://iyamvixenbooks.blogspot.com/) gave me a very sparkly award. The only requirement for this award is that you shared it with whomever you like, sharing the love is always a good thing. The blog has to show only one characteristic, caring. So, start sharing this enchanted award with five other bloggers. Let your bloggers know they have received this enchanted award. (Remember, fairies are fickle wee things, don't incur their displeasure by ignoring their gift).
I will pass this on to Rue (http://ruespeanutbutterandjellylife.blogspot.com/) and Victoria (http://vintagetea.blogspot.com/). They are the sweetest bloggers and I care about them so much!

Sunday Stroll-The Iris' and roses are beautiful this year!

I was suppose to go with John to the Quail Hollow Golf Classic today but I had a splitting headache and was running a fever. I slept for most of the day, but I needed to stretch my legs and get some outside sun and fresh air. I took a stroll around the house (that was about all the walking I did today). Our iris' are blooming now and the roses are just so beautiful this year I had to photograph them and show everyone.

Last night or I should say early this morning I finished reading Flamingo Diner and I enjoyed that immensely! I have started reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett and I'm really enjoying that so far. This book is very interesting. It is for my bookclub and the leader of the club told me the writer lived in NYC during the 911 attacks. She wasn't able to leave her apartment for a few weeks so she hunkered down and wrote this book!

Here is what Publisher's Weekly had to say on amazon.com about the book:
The story is set during the nascent civil rights movement in Jackson, Miss., where black women were trusted to raise white children but not to polish the household silver. Eugenia Skeeter Phelan is just home from college in 1962, and, anxious to become a writer, is advised to hone her chops by writing about what disturbs you. The budding social activist begins to collect the stories of the black women on whom the country club sets relies and mistrusts enlisting the help of Aibileen, a maid who's raised 17 children, and Aibileen's best friend Minny, who's found herself unemployed more than a few times after mouthing off to her white employers. The book Skeeter puts together based on their stories is scathing and shocking, bringing pride and hope to the black community, while giving Skeeter the courage to break down her personal boundaries and pursue her dreams. Assured and layered, full of heart and history, this one has bestseller written all over it.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Now I'm headed back to the couch to rest and rejuvenate for work tomorrow! Everyone have a lovely evening!

This is the pale pink rosebush when you come in our driveway. The fragrance is absolutely wonderful this year. I think all the water we had really helped the roses and plants this year after the severe drought we had last year and the year before.

A closeup of the pale pink rose.

This purple iris looks almost black before it opens. It is a rich, royal purple color. When the light hits its petals there is a shimmer effect, very beautiful!

This is the center of the purple iris. The wind flutter the one petal but I thought it gave it a new perspective. Very elegant and beautiful iris for sure!

This peach colored iris came out today, what a beauty!!

This is the center of the peach colored iris. I just thought the different colors and textures were beautiful!

This velvet red rose is just blooming up a storm this year!

These 2 red roses are up against the brick on our house. They just looked perfect there!

This William Lobb Moss Rose just started to bloom and it is beautiful! The buds are so fuzzy this year, hence the moss rose name! The thorns are plentiful though on this bush, but you have to overlook that and see the beauty in the rose and buds.

I hope to read more this coming month! Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

Selling some surplus furniture.

John and I have been making a list of furniture that we want to sell because we just have too much stockpiled. When we moved from NJ we had alot more rooms in that house so we brought everything with us and thought we would sell it down here. We realized that was not such a great idea-we could have gotten more $$ in NJ. We really need to get rid of some clutter and whenever we move the house will be smaller and it wouldn't fit. I'm not getting rid of any of my antiques but we have an extra couch, wall unit, dining room set, pine work table, curio cabinet and a few other little things. It will be good to get rid of all that. Also the style of this house is a different style than some of the furniture we have. I was able to use all the antique dressers I've got in this house but I really want to get back to our more "country or shabby chic furniture whenever we move. It will be alot of work getting everything ready but it will be good to have less cluttered up rooms. So this weekend I'll be spending some of the time getting all these things ready for sale. I do have one antique dresser that I never really, really cared for so I'm calling an antique dealer to come look at it. She bought a few victorian things from me about a year ago and really liked the dresser. I should have sold it to her then.
