Some more vintage button rings!

Last night I created some more vintage button rings and boy did I have fun! I also made this cute little bird's nest ring with 3 lovely little white eggs (pearls). I'll definitely be making some more of those! Here are some pictures of them.

Today I'll be running a few errands, planting some plants, reading, knitting, sewing and just plain enjoying my day! It is nice and sunny here today and it is warming up with a nice gentle breeze. Perfect in my book!

Everyone have a great day!

Cupcakes, Peonies and Hostas!

What a combo huh-cupcakes, peonies and hostas! The cupcake part due to the fact that Jenny, my youngest daughter made some cupcakes for Easter dessert. They were really cute-good job Jenny! She made little chicks, bird nests with eggs, bunny behinds, bunny feet, Peeps, etc. Here are some of her creations:

I went out into the courtyard this morning to go into the garage to leave for work and I saw my tree peony, which I have had for 8 yrs (2 in NJ and 6 here in NC) started to bloom. When I got home from work I decided I better take some pictures because it is suppose to rain tomorrow. It looks like rain now! I was going to take any chances. They are such a beautiful color-bright magenta!

I also noticed my hosta plants are in full leaf right now! This weekend they were just little "horns" poking out of the soil and look at them now. I just love how they swirl!

I hope you've enjoyed your little tour through my garden and viewing Jenny's cupcakes. Jenny has her own blog too that shows all of her cupcakes she has created if you are interested: http://cupcakepirates.blogspot.com.

Life has been so busy!

Hi Everyone! I haven't been here in a few days and I just realized how busy my life has been! I have been so busy at both work and home! I have also been walking before or after dinner for more exercise. It is much easier to walk when it is nice and warm out when it is so cold! Nothing much really going on at our house at the moment but just alot of everyday things to do. Work on the other hand has gotten out of control busy, but this is the time of year for that and I am certainly not complaining with the way the economy has hit the construction industry!

I hope everyone is enjoying all the wonderful weather and sunshine!

Today is another gorgeous day!

I never made it here yesterday to wish all of you a Happy Easter. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. The girls and their men came over for Easter dinner. Jenny and Kevin could only stay for a few hours because Jenny had to go to work. Megan and Ken stayed and we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the day-it was so nice out there. Today I'm back at work after being home for 4 days. It was so nice being home and away from the office that long! Today is another beautiful day but alas I am inside slaving away at my desk.

Everyone have a beautiful day!

What a beautiful day!

Charlotte hit record temps since 1978 today! When I looked at the thermometer it was 92! The sun was shining and the sky was a beautiful blue. John and I decided it was too hot to walk the Greenway today and my back was bothering me. We decided to take a walk around where we live instead. I decided to take my trusty camera and snap some pics as I was walking. Here is what I saw today:

This little purple pansy is growing in the center park area of our townhome neighborhood.

Another little pansy looking all happy!

Pansies always make me smile they look so happy.

This is the time of year Carolina Jasmine starts to bloom and it is blooming in profusion this year! Here are some pictures from around the neighborhood.

I don't know the real name of this shrub but everyone seems to call it Pink Dancing Ladies. I love that name and they really do look like pink dancing ladies when the wind blows these shrubs!

My neighbors wisteria is creeping over the fence and it smells heavenly. It looks gorgeous also!

I forgot to mention John and I went to Lowe's and I bought these plants today:

Basil, Dianthus, 1 tomato plant, snapdragons, lobelia, petunias and cucumbers. I think this is a great start!

I just love the color of these petunias I bought! So bright and they will make a nice show in the courtyard.

That's it for my stroll today! I hope it was warm and sunny where you live too!

A Drive through Piper Glen

John and I went to the library last night, which is only about 10 mins. from our house. We decided to go through a neighborhood that is on the way. The neighborhood is called Piper Glen. This is a golf course community and most of the house are huge there, I would call them mansion size. They have very beautiful cherry trees blooming in that neighborhood all over the place. I have taken some pictures of the houses (mansions) and the plants. Here they are:

This is the entrance to Piper Glen.

One of the streets lined with cherry trees.

Aren't these flowers beautiful in front of this brick mansion?

Closeup of the flowers at the brick mansion.

There was this beautiful pond in Piper Glen with the gorgeous fountain.

Closeup of the fountain in the pond.

How would you like to live here?

Or maybe you could live here?

This house wouldn't fit in the view finder of my camera it is so huge and rambling. This one is being remodeled but through the window on the left you can see the spiral staircase.

Back to our house! These are the cherry trees across from where we live. They are just beautiful. The petals are falling now and it looks like snow or a wedding!

I prefer to live in a cottage-like house, Charleston-style house or something in the craftsman style, but springtime is a great time to drive through these neighborhoods with the huge homes (mansions) to see there lovely flowers and blooming trees. Hope you enjoyed the ride!
