Happy St. Patrick's Day and Roamy's Next Hostess!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!! Enjoy the wearin' of the green today!! I have on a lovely green overshirt today and my Celtic Cross John bought me in Ireland. We will be feasting on corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes tonight. Along with Irish Soda Bread-I love that stuff!!



Random.org has picked Patti from Osage Bluff Quilter (osagebluffquilter.blogspot.com) to host our little friend Roamy!! Thank you everyone who offered to take the wee lad next! Patti, I sent you an e-mail last night asking you to send your snail mail address. I'll get the little one all packaged up and send it out to you! It will be hard to say goodbye to this little guy, he has been the perfect house guest (well most of the time-LOL!!).

I have had a little visitor this week!

My blogger friend, Kat at Low Tide High Style received Roamy, this little elf and I agreed to take Roamy next. Roamy arrived on Monday. I was sick Monday and Tuesday and I wasn't able to take Roamy on any adventures. Today John and I took Roamy to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden! This is how we spent our day:

We took Roamy to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden today. He couldn't wait to drive through the entrance!


Here he is getting closer to the entrance. He kept trying to run up to the entrance and I had to hold his hand and slow him down.


Just when I thought Roamy was behaving and walking slowly towards the entrance of the Garden he decided to hide out in a group of mini daffodils-isn't he cute!


There is a beautiful white garden at the Daniel Stowe Botanical garden. There is also a fountain and Roamy decided he needed to pose by it.

Roamy made quick friends with this little snail at the Garden and it made him feel like he was back home amongst the moss.

I told Roamy to stop being bad and to stop getting so close to the edge of the fountain.

Roamy walked with us through the entire Garden and needed a rest at the end. While John and I drank our water, Roamy decided to rest at the table overlooking the garden.


Saying goodbye can be hard, but Roamy was tired and wanted to just hang out at our house.


When we got home, we took Roamy out into our courtyard. He got very smitten with our Garden Fairy! I tried to explain that he will be traveling alot in the next year so he shouldn't make any lasting relationships. He agreed and told the Garden Fairy farewell.

Then Roamy decided to be naughty again-what is with him and water!!


Roamy was on the edge of my fountain again!


I just turned my back and then I heard a plunk in the water. That little devil Roamy had jumped in the water and was playing in my fountain!

Roamy crawled out of the fountain with my help and then jumped up on the fence next to the fountain and was admiring my neighbor's wisteria (that is just starting to bloom).



Well that has been the story of Roamy staying at the McDermitts! Who would like to take Roamy next? I will entertain offers for Roamy's next adventure until Wednesday night. I will then let the lucky person know on Thursday. This has been a really fun adventure and it could be yours!!

Beautiful flowers from my husband!

John gave me the most gorgeous flowers today! They are gladiolus, stock and cream roses. I have a very large cut crystal vase and all these flowers look just gorgeous in that vase. I put the vase on my sideboard in the kitchen eating area. I could look at them all day! Here are so photos of them:

The Wonderful World of Table Runners

Today I am just relaxing at home and will be changing some of my decorations around the house. I love doing this! It gives me great satisfaction changing table linens, decorating my mantel for the coming season, tweaking little things around the house, etc. I haven't really been in the mood to redecorate until now. Maybe it is because of Spring, renewal and all. I have always loved table linens (well basically any type of linens will do me fine!). Here are some examples of beautiful table runners that I am going to share with you!


This Pottery Barn table runner is just gorgeous! I love the beautiful glass vessel with the tulips in it. I am going to try a similar table setting soon.


Everyone loves Gerbera Daisy (if they don't they should-LOL!!). This crate of Gerbera Daisies make a wonderful table runner/centerpiece.


I just love this table runner! I bet it would be easy to make something similar to this. I see another project added to my list of many!


I saw this on someone's blog and fell in love with it-just wonderful!


Black and White Toile is a favorite of mine. This table runner is just beautiful!


This Easter Dot table runner from Pottery Barn caught my eye! What a lovely table of cream colored goodies. I may have to stop by there this week and get one.


This table runner is made from drop cloth material (who would have thought drop cloths could be so wonderful!). I love the marmalade crocks also-what a wonderful table!


This French burlap table runner is simple but lovely. There are so many creative people in the world and this is a gem!


I have all of a sudden fallen in love with monogrammed items. This monogrammed table runner would be perfect for my dining room table-it already has an M on it!

All Kinds of Headboards!

I looked at the HGTV decorating site and they had a feature on headboards. My daughter, Megan and I made 2 padded silk headboards a few years ago and we had alot of fun making them! Here are some ideas HGTV had. You can use so many different things!


This pinky mauve Chinese inspired headboard is one of my favorites. It would give any room a pop of color!


This room looks so inviting! I love the chandelier!!


This is a really creative way to make a headboard-use a wire Vintage gate as part of it!


Don't let those old wooden doors sit in a garage or shed, use them as a headboard! Is that chandelier stunning!!


I love the colors in this room-so simple yet elegant! I would love a room like that!


Take some old painted shutters (or new ones and make them look old) for this look! I love the pillows on this bed too!


This room has a more modern feel.


If you find an old mantel, use that as your headboard-very interesting choice but I like it! There is so much you could do with this.


I've always liked red and white together and this room is another favorite of mine!

April Showers Bring May Flowers....

My Grandma always used to say, "April Showers bring May Flowers", well it is only March here and we have been having rain showers (storms) like crazy here!!



Maybe that means we will have May a month earlier!! Wouldn't that be nice! I'm looking forward to the wisteria, peonies and all the other flowers blooming away here! My tree peony has one huge bud on it right now and I'm sure others will follow! I am thinking of adding a white bleeding heart plant to my container garden. They look so beautiful with all the little white "hearts" hanging off their green stem!


But the Pink Bleeding Hearts are gorgeous too!


I can't wait until I can open the windows and screened door to let the sounds of the birds come back into our life! I miss the butterflies flitting around my plants too!

Oh well all that will be happening soon enough! I just have to be patient a little while longer. So rain keep coming down and waking up the Earth!! Everyone have a great day!
