My Computer at Work Died today!

I am sad to report my laptop at work died this morning. I am waiting for the outsource IT guy to come and see if he can atleast resurrect it to get my contact info off of it. That would be wonderful. There is a desktop in the office not being used right now and I will be using that. The IT guy needs to move some things from the old computer to someone elses computer and then load somethings of mine on there. I just hope he comes and does it soon. I have some work that needs to be done. When computers work, they are great, when the don't it's bad! Atleast I have another laptop I can use in the interim for things that are important like my blog!! Everyone have a great day!

UPDATE: The IT guy came and fixed everything!! The computer is up and running and better than ever-YEAH!!

This weather is strange!

The weather this weekend in Charlotte and all of NC was beautiful. It was in the low 80's in Charlotte, which was wonderful after all the days and days of rain! Then yesterday it was in the 60's and started to rain and as the day progressed it dropped in the high 40's! Last night and today poor Boone, NC (which is located in the mountains) had They actually got from 4"-6"!

Today Charlotte's weather was extremely windy and very chilly! The Hi today was suppose to be 54 (never made it that far) and the Lo is suppose to be 34 degrees! Tomorrow a.m. it is suppose to be 29 degrees!! Hello Mother Nature it is 4/7/09!!

By Thursday it is suppose to be in the 70's again and very sunny! Can't wait for that! I'm used to weird Springs when I lived in the north but I haven't experienced this kind of weather since I moved to NC 5 years ago. I hope Spring/Summer comes soon. This cold weather isn't my idea of Spring in the South!! Everyone have a great day!

I'm doing a book giveaway!

I have decided to do a book giveaway! I have tried to win books on a few giveaways and I thought it was time I give away a book myself! I have bought a brand new paperback version of Murder by the Glass by Michele Scott. This is a wine lover's mystery.

This is what is says on the back of the book:

Life is sweet for Nikki Sands. She's toasting her new job at the Malveaux Estate in Napa Valley and balancing a love triangle with a neighboring winemaker and her boss, vineyard owner Derek Malveaux-the catch of the county. And tonight, Nikki will be on the arm of Napa's golden boy at a Sonoma mansion for the wedding the decade... Nikki's friend, Isabel agreed to cater the wedding-before she learned that the groom was her cheating lover. After the ceremony, Isabel asks Nikki to bring the obnoxious bride another glass of wine. But Nikki finds the new wife sprawled on the floor-murdered. Since the dearly departed made enemies easily, there's a bushel of suspects-many of them close to Nikki. Now, it's up to her to get to the bottom of what may have been a killer bottle of wine.

**NOTE: Before I post the rules, I'm sorry to say I can only offer this book to be mailed within the Continental USA at this time.
The rules are simple to win the book giveaway:

1. Post a comment about wanting to participate in the giveway-giving your e-mail address so I can contact you when you win.

2. All posts have to be made by this Friday, April 10th at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Friday night I will pick the winner by pulling your name out of a hat and mail your book off the next day!

Good luck everyone!!

Some miscellaneous pictures in our yard

John and I spent almost all day yesterday working in the gardens. I made up the 4 windowboxes, sprayed the 2 urns out front gloss black, filled the urns with dirt and plants, cut back the front climber and tied it up better, cleaned all the urns and planters on the patio, clipping the dead off the plants, etc., and then we cleaned the entire backyard garden!! It was alot of work and we were very tired. Then we remembered we invited our friends over for dinner!! We had a wonderful dinner with them, we grilled steaks, had salad, green beans and mashed potatoes. My friend made the dessert. She made strawberries, with whipped cream and pound cake all layered, it was wonderful! It started to get a little chilly so we lit the outdoor fireplace and stayed out there until 10:30. It was great!

Here are some pictures of our cherry tree blooming out front and a few other pics. Enjoy! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

This is the Cherry Tree in our front yard.

Here are so of the cherry blossoms. they look like puffy, pink clouds! I love looking at them swaying in the breeze!

Our Carolina Jasmine started blooming about 1 week ago on our brick wall by the outdoor fireplace.

I gave the two urns in the front of the house a fresh coat of paint. I used shiny black. They look so much better. I'll take a picture of the urns in the next few days. I planted Gerbera Daisies in them with creeping jenny and marigolds.

John and I cleaned up the gardens and I made up the 4 front flowerboxes. We put a geraniu, in the middle and the asparagus fern on either side. These always look so nice when they get fuller and bloom!

Today the backyard garden gets cleaned up!

This was my garden last year and I'll tell you it doesn't look like this now! I need to cut back the butterfly bush, pull out all the annuals and chop off the dead canes from the daylilies, etc. I think I might need to freshen up the mulch too. I also need to plant something in the 4 window boxes out front-maybe some pansies! Pansies bolt here when it gets warm but I can have them for a little while. I also have to spray paint the urns out front (should have done that a few weeks ago-I'm bad). We are having our friends from the neighborhood over for dinner tonight, which will be really nice. If there is a chill in the air, we'll have a fire in the outdoor fireplace! The whole weekend should be a good one!! Everyone enjoy your weekend!

Reflections of Spring

John and I took a 2.5 mile walk around the neighborhood the other day and the pictures belong were from that walk. We had some really nice reflections of spring in our neighborhood and the next one. I hope to get out this weekend and snap some photos of the azaelas now blooming! Enjoy!

These beautiful orange tulips were planted by an elderly couple in the next neighborhood. We always stop and talk to the husband when we are out walking. He told me he planted this in a horseshoe shape and didn't expect them to come up. He planted them for his wife because she likes orange! How sweet!!

Don't these pansies look like little faces just smiling at you! I love to watch them, especially when they sway in the breeze! These are at the entrance to our neighborhood.

I love pansies and purple ones are really my favorite! This pansy was planted by our homeowner's association at the entrance to our neighborhood.

This is one of our neighbors front door. John and I were taking a walk and it was starting to get dark and I love the gas lights they have for their outside lights.
