Today is Ash Wednesday. One of my co-workers just assumed I was catholic because I have an Irish last name. Well my husband has the Irish background (I'm German/Dutch) and why do people always assume because you have an Irish last name you are catholic. We are Methodist. I do believe in giving up something for Lent though. While I was trying to figure out what I should give up a few things crossed my mind: chocolate-no, tea-no, beef-no. I started thinking of other things. I came up with chewing gum. I always chew some gum in the afternoon after lunch and now I guess Mentos or Altoids will have to do.
